Home Drug Test Kits And Their Uses

Drug tests are used today by doctors, employers, and the police to determine if you have any illegal narcotics or alcohol in your system.  Many argue that these tests are unreliable and not one hundred percent accurate.  There are several home drug test kits you can order to test at home before you get tested at work.  There are also some test kits for parents who think their kids may be abusing drugs or alcohol as well.  The nice thing about the home drug test kits is you can do the test in the privacy of your home and not have to worry about someone judging you.Home drug test kits are used for people who want to check themselves before a big announced drug screen at work.  Parents can also test their teen for drugs and alcohol.  For these company or police tests, genetic material is needed.  These include saliva, urine, blood, or hair follicles.  Saliva can detect in usually one hour Marijuana, Cocaine, Methamphetamines, and Benzodiazepines.  Using hair follicles, you can go back three months or more to see what  the person has been abusing.

Home tests can be ordered custom made depending on what specifics you are looking to test.  Some places have in their home drug test kits enough to check for one substance, others have upwards of ten.  They will test for alcohol, Cocaine, Marijuana, Opiates, Barbituates, Amphetamines, Heroin, Oxycontin, Morphine and a whole slew of others.

Most of the home drug test kits include a test device that has several windows depending on how may tests you are performing.  The difference in home drug test kits and drug tests used by doctors and police are the home drug test kits only require a small amount of urine or saliva to test.  For alcohol, they send a home-use breathalyser device for you to blow into to see if your level is too high.  They include a dropper for you to place it in the test device.  Then the test device will show a colored line in the control region to let you know it is working properly.  If no line appears in the test region, it is a positive test result.

You must be careful if you get a positive result as some of the drugs aforementioned can stay in your body much longer than a day.  Some can stay for up to two days, and you hair follicles can hold in a narcotic for up to ninety days.  Many factors affect metabolism of drugs and alcohol.  These include age, amount used, frequency of use, your own metabolism, and how the substance was taken (swallowed, ingested, inhaled)  Make sure you are aware of the time needed to clear your body of the substance before you take the test at work.

Another important thing to remember about these home drug test kits is that if you are taking medicine for a cold or the flu, it may show up as a false positive.  Some prescription antibiotics can register a false positive for cocaine or heroin.  In most cases, after a couple of days, prescription and non-prescription drugs will no longer be able to be detected.  You cannot change the days needed to rid your system of the substance.  The only thing that will do that is time.  Make sure you have the time you need to rid yourself of the substance or it could mean that job, promotion, or even your life.
